Man hides from police in manure pit

ALBION, Ind. (WANE) – An Albion man picked a rather unusual place to hide while running from the Noble County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday morning, a huge pit of manure.
Deputies went to a home on west US 6 in Albion to arrest 52 year old Thomas Hovis Jr. on multiple drug related charges.
When they arrived, Hovis ran from the home into a small building on the property.
Officers used tear gas to try and convince Hovis to exit the building but he refused.
Police eventually went into the building and found Hovis standing neck deep in a manure pit beneath the floor.
He was removed from the pit but became combative and had to be tasered.
Hovis was treated at the scene for hypothermia and is currently in the Steuben County Jail.
A search of the property also found three different methamphetamine labs, two grams of methamphetamine, 18 marijuana plants, three handguns and an assault rifle.
Novis has an extensive criminal history which includes a murder conviction.
